The Computer Science Laboratory (CSLab) provides general computing facilities for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. It has a teaching lab with 28 Windows PCs and a Final-Year Project (FYP) lab with 48 PCs for student project development.
The CSLab operates on-premise Large Language Model (LLM) API services, providing local AI inference capabilities for teaching and research. The service features multiple frontier open-source models (including DeepSeek, Ornith, and Qwen families) served via GPU clusters with H200 accelerators, accessible through a unified API gateway with per-user and per-team usage tracking. The infrastructure also includes an AI agent memory and knowledge base system.
Students can also access the CS partition on the CityU central High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster for computational-intensive workloads.
A wide variety of software tools including MATLAB, Visual Studio, R, Python, and JupyterHub are available for general use in teaching and development. The CS Department has also subscribed to Azure Dev Tools for Teaching; CS students and staff are licensed to use most Microsoft OS and development tools without additional cost.
