CSLab Campus-wide Remote Desktop Service

Students taking at least one CS course can now access CS-specific software applications by connecting to CSLab Remote Desktop Service from any PCs/Mac. Owing to software license restrictions, students should not connect to this service from any machines outside the CityU campus.

To access the CSLab Remote Desktop Service (for running CS-specific software):

  • Launch the Remote Desktop Connection client on your computer.
    • On Windows: Search for and open Remote Desktop Connection (or run mstsc from the Start menu / Run dialog).
    • On macOS / Linux: Use the built-in Microsoft Remote Desktop app or another compatible RDP client.
  • In the client, enter the following server address: rds19a.cs.cityu.edu.hk
  • Connect, then log in using your CityU credentials in this format:
    Username: CITYUMD\<eid>

Important notes:

  • If you are off-campus, you must first connect to the CityU VPN before starting the Remote Desktop session.
  • Due to software licensing restrictions, this service is intended primarily for on-campus or VPN use (avoid connecting directly from outside the CityU network without VPN).
