CSLab VPN (Sonicwall)
The VPN gateway (sma122.cs.cityu.edu.hk) is established to allow CSLab users to connect to the CS departmental network and their lab/office desktop PCs, if applicable.
iOS, macOS, and Android devices should use the "SonicWall Mobile Connect" app, while Windows users should use the NetExtender VPN client.
To access the VPN gateway from your device, please follow the provided steps below.
Please note:
- This service is exclusively for CSLab users and is intended for teaching, learning, and research purposes only.
- Sharing your account with others is strictly prohibited.
- Only one connection is allowed per user at any given time. Subsequent login sessions will terminate earlier sessions.
- Violation of CityU network user policies, Policy on Use of IT Services and Resources, may result in the disabling of your account without prior notice.
Sonicwall Clients Installation:
- For iOS, macOS and Android devices, install the “SonicWall Mobile Connect” app from the App store / Mac App Store / Play Store
- Open the “SonicWall Mobile Connect” app and add a connection. Use sma122.cs.cityu.edu.hk as the Server name and MFA as the Domain Name
- Save the connection settings. To connect, click on the connection name and toggle the ‘VPN’ button. You will be redirected to the CityU MFA login portal for authentication
- For Windows devices, please install the 'NetExtender VPN Clients' and setup the connection as show below:
- Upon successful connection, your device will obtain a 144.214.122.x IP address, allowing access to resources of the CS departmental network.
- Each user can log on to one VPN session only. Logging in from a new device will automatically disconnect the existing session.
- If the primary VPN gateway is unavailable due to failure or license limits, use the backup VPN gateway sma121.cs.cityu.edu.hk with the MFA domain as an alternative.
